Jim Richardson implemented a prototype lparser for the language in 1987, while Robin Deed implemented a small prototype of the run-time system in 1988. The final design and implementation was carried out with the participation of Mark Bofinger, John Brownie, Steve Collins, Bruce Cox, Andrew Solomon, and Allan Steel, in addition to the authors"
